MIWW Winners Chosen
The 2010
Minnesota Make It With Wool contest was held on December 4, 2010
in Morton, MN at Jackpot Junction. The contest hosted 50 contestants
from across the state, in 4 age divisions and the quilt and novelty
contest. Even thou contestants had to brave the first major snow
storm the contest was a success.
The winners
of the 4 garment divisions are as follows:
Adult,
Traci Lafrentz, St.Joseph modeled a bomber jacket, hat and
mittens. The jacket was made from a green plaid. The hat
and mittens were from a teal green.
Senior,
Sarah Olson of Woodbury, constructed a 3 piece garment, which
included a brown pin stripe vest and pant and a Victoria styled
coat of brown and tan. Sarah received the exemplary construction
award at the state level and then went on to receive the same
award at the National level, along with the Claire Schaffer
award for the use of a Claire Schaffer pattern.
Junior,
Mariah Legred from Bricelyn, won the trip to Reno NV with
a gray fitted dress. The square necked, princess seamed dress
won her a 3rd runner-up at the National level.

Preteens,
Abbie Weckman, Shakopee, Elizabeth Roe, Frost, Kia Legred,
Bricelyn were the 3 preteen honorable mentions. Each of these
girls received sewing notions as prizes.

| The 2010 quilt
and novelty contest winners were: Evelyn Hanson, Echo,
with her navy recycled wool lap quilt. Susan Hansen , Lake Elmo,
felted a green purse with flower trim, and Heidi Imker of Lamberton,
knitted a black wool scarf. The quilt and novelty contest is
a Minnesota only contest and does not advance on. |
